Infertility and Pregnancy Loss support and information

Hey gals, this is a personal note from me. I have not had the pleasure of meeting all of you personally that follow this blog but I want to put this out there. I have been contacted by several wonderful girls that are going through the nightmare/rollcoaster of infertility and pregnancy loss. I just want to tell anyone who needs it, I am available to talk about anything at all concerning either subject. I am infertility and multiple miscarriage survivor and I know what a silent and lonely struggle both can be. I am putting this out there because since being in contact with several of our sisters about what they are going throw helps renew my strength after our long journey to parenthood! I always joke with people that used to ask Preston and I when we were having a baby already??? I would answer it is not as easy as it looks!!!

As information, Preston and I tried to have a baby for 5 years and endured surgeries, procedures, tests, losses and endless waiting before we finally got and stayed pregnant (with massive medical assistance) with our first, Kaiya, who's name means "long awaited child". Along the way we have lost three babies (before and after successful pregnancies)and also had our sweet Cassie with no medical help at all. I am saying all this to say - you are not alone, and I would be more then happy to help with questions or just discuss fears, or even just talk a bit, I also will add some websites to look at if you need them. But always feel free to email me about anything! Just email the blog directly and I will email you back, confidentiality assured.

Also - here are some websites that have been helpful for me in the past:

I also have several book recommendations if you are intersted as well. Thanks for reading girls and God Bless.

Sisters In Business. Important stuff!

I will be soon posting links to some of our fabulous Sisters who have started their own businesses, but since I am having trouble with the link, I am going to put a post about their businesses and their links. I so admire their entrepreneurial spirit and cannot be more proud of them!

Sisters Ink~ Started by Iris Wang Love 96 and Martha Wang Montgomery 95, they do AMAZING work in paper. Birth announcements (that are gorgeous by the way) and multiple other fabulous items like Birthday invites, save the date cards, shower invites. You must check them out! They even have this wonderful service that they will address AND send out your cards for you. Let me tell you, it was so much stress off me when I had Hannah that I could not thank them enough!
Actaully, here is the birth announcement they did for my little Hannah. Isnt it beautiful?!?!?

Check them out!!
www.sisters-ink.com

Lyvea Designs~ Started by Darsi Miller Edwards 99 designs these fabulous craft clothes to protect your house and furniture from crafting, coloring and even eating. They are beautiful and the designs are darling. You need to go to her site and see what she is doing! It is really fabulous. http://www.lyveadesigns.com/home.html

Spirit Cheer and Dance Althetics~ Started by Jill Pitcher Williams 99, sums it up best on her own website, her business helps to set up venues (and all the goodies that go along with a cheerleading/dance competitions) and to make it cost effective for the organizations trying to host the events and the groups wanting to compete.
As you know cheerleading and dance are not really big here in Ohio~ okay just wanted to make sure you were still paying attention, so if you have an event or would like to host or schedule one, just go to Jill's site and she will take good care of you!

To all my Sisters that have little ones...

Hello my sweet ladies!!!

I hope this post finds you all doing fantastically well!

I know that you are all not as PSYCHO as I am about fun Owlie clothes for your mini people, but I feel the need as a sister, friend and fellow compulsive shopper (not mentioning ANY names here... you know who you are).

BUT ANYWAY. They have adorable owls clothes for girls at Kohls, SO CUTE. They have adorable boy owls stuff at Old Navy. Girls owl stuff at Gymboree and Baby Gap. Janie and Jack (stop reading NOW Tricia!!!) has owl stuff for boys. Carters has it for both and if you are feeling really sassy (which I know some of you just are, okay I am too) There is a rediculously adorable red sweater at Pottery Barn Kids. Baby girl owl Robeez at Gap or wherever they sell Robs.

And GOD LOVE Target, they have the $5 owl halloween tops and some knockout owl PJs.

Have fun and happy shopping.

Not sure if you wanted that info or not, but here it is~!

Love and big hooters,

The Owl Girls come together to honor Duncan Arthur at the Columbus Heart Walk

First of all thank you to everyone who pledged money, helped with getting out information, could not make it but wanted to and those of course who participated!

The HeartWalk went wonderfully, and Duncan's Walking Warriors raised (drumroll please...) $2425.00!!!! AND that is BEFORE all the same day pledges and matching pledges will be added in, once the additions, we will be over $3000!!!!!. Our original team goal was 20 members and with kiddos included... it was 17! Not too bad! We had a wonderful time walking and celebrating Duncan.

Shout outs go out to: Our wonderful team "Duncan's Walking Warriors", Carli Amlin Dean, Amber Casper Baumer, Becky Devaney Stapleton, Helene Mundrick Wirth, Sherri Slagle Ebert, Tiffany Compan McCallen and Emily Devaney Replogle. As well as many of our kiddos that joined us, Kaiya, Cassie, Austin, Hannah, Charlie, Noah, Gabe, Savvy and Olivia.... who WALKED much of the event!!!! WTG Olivia! Also - thank you for Sherri, Carli, Tiff for making the extra long drive to downtown Columbus early on a Saturday!

Shout out to Carli who was our top moneyraiser! Way to go Carli for getting the word out there and in record time!!!

Shout out to The Jacket Man who literally came through at the last minute to make us shirts with Duncan's name on them to honor him, making them at cost and even DELIVERING them to my door when my car broke down yesterday!!! Highly recommend for any school or corpororate event.

SHout out to Brianne Stewart Harman for chatting with her Owl sisters even in the midst of all the chaos and even providing several of our kids t-shirts after they found their way to a fountain after the walk was over!! Brianne was very professional and made the HeartWalk a huge success as a director for the American Heart Association!! (My pledge everyone:):):))

Most importantly, thank you Tricia and Scott for giving us the oppornity to know Duncan (and Jackson of course) whether we knew him through knowing you two, your blog, or just word of mouth... he had left an incredible impression on all of us. A wonderful one, to do better, be more kind to others and appreciate so many things that can be taken for granted.
Your little boy and his amazing life and your amazing family has left an everlasting impression on our hearts and will forever have changed us and our hearts for the better. Thank you for sharing your story, letting us all in, being such a positive influence on all of us.
Duncan today was your day, you were in every smile, the thousands of balloons, the music in the air, the millions of footsteps that every person took. They were taking those steps to make a difference....It was to make a difference and it was because of you. We were dancing all the way down the walk, having a ball and remembering the importance of savoring each moment.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you.

Owl Update~Flavia Santos Ward '04

I got an email yesterday from Flavia and some beautiful photos of her and her family and little boy Enz0 (ADORABLE). Here is what is going on in her life!
I am so excited that I am able to check and see how all my sisters are doing, and update everyone on how I am as well. Life has been good, had some curve balls come my way, but nothing that I could not handle. I am currently living in Atlanta, GA. I moved here right after graduation, I found job working in Information Technology for a real state company. In July of 2005 Michael and I got married. It was a wonderful day! But soon after we went through a rollercoaster, Mike was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, so the past years have been kind of a struggle. In march of 2007, not planning we found out I was pregnant. It was a bit scary at first, and in December 27, 2007 we welcomed our baby boy Enzo Santos Ward. Since than, our lives have changed completely, he is our sunshine! He makes us so happy! Right now, we are enjoying him to the fullest! I am also on the process of moving to Houston, TX. So if anyone knows of any of our sisters that live in that area, let me know, it would be great to have someone to get in contact when we move there. The move will probably happen sometime in October or November.Thank you for the wonderful blog, it is a great way for everyone to stay in contact.

Love-N-Hoots,

Flavia

Check this hooter OUT! Darsi Miller Edwards 1999

Darsi Miller Edwards 1999 is genius! For those of you who remember her, she was one of the funniest, kindest and most beautiful sisters we have. She married her sweetheart and went on a whirlwind life adventure seeing that her husband played professional football for the Cleveland Browns, the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Chicago Bears and in the Superbowl with the New England Patriots (nice ring!). In the meantime, she had three daughters Taya, Ella and Livi and they all now live in Jacksonville with Marc retired from the NFL and is now doing very well in the insurance business.

But I digress...in February Darsi started her own business Lyvea Designs Inc (notice the mix of her daughter's names?) and it is doing very well. I was lucky enough to get one of her first products the Craft Cloth for Hannah's birthday and it is SO NEAT. Its perfect for crafts, picnics, etc. It cleans off easy and is washable too, it even has pockets along the sides to hold things in. Check out her website at http://www.lyveadesigns.com/ it's great and the girl in the green tank that you see when the site opens is her beautiful daughter Taya!
I am just so excited for her and wanted to pass on her update. When my sister and I moved to Ohio, we were fifteen years old and were so nervous that we wouldn't make any friends, well Darsi was our first friend here in Ohio and then we danced together on the Drill team and now we are Sisters. I just love her to pieces and wanted to let you all know that she is doing some great things!

Above are some pictures of the Craft Cloth. The first ones are of my daughter Hannah playing the most feared Play Doh on hers. The second ones are of Hannah and Jill Pitcher Williams son Owen having pizza and just hanging out on Owen's cloth. The third one is of my son Charlie (aka the DESTROYER) sitting having his breakfast on ours (I promise I am going to fold that laundry!).
Love N Hoots,
Emily

I got this email from Eileen today, and would like to send out the most sincere CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Also, here is a photo of her absolutely beautiful daughter Anatalia, enjoy!

Hello Sisters!

Just wanted to share some news. I finally became an American citizen on April 10th! It has been a very long road but has finally come to a close. I sent in my registration to vote on April 11th! On so many levels, it is going to be an exciting election year! Also, here's a close up picture of Anatalia. Though she has so many different ethnicities in her, she looks almost pure Puerto Rican, but her appitite is ALL Filipino!

Hope you are all well!

Thank you from Tricia Johnson Arthur '01

Hi Ladies,

Yet again, I am so humbled by the outpouring of love and support by my sisters in making Duncan's tree a reality. For those of you not living in the Columbus area, you'll just have to trust me when I tell you how absolutely special the young dogwood tree is, which is planted at the Park of Roses. Now that Spring has sprung, the little sprouting leaves are plentiful, and I'm pretty sure I saw the first flower buds when I visited yesterday.

Not to be too deep or dramatic, but I do believe the seasons represent a lot about life. And now that Spring is upon us and the budding dogwood that - thanks to yall - I can call "Duncan's Tree" is adding new growth, it just brings to mind that new life is always around the corner. That tree represents for me that Duncan's life is continuing in many ways, even though his physical one is over.

So thanks. Thanks. Thanks. The gathering of friends, words spoken, music played, and lunch enjoyed afterwards were all extremely meaningful to me and my family. How you've rallied around the goal of supporting and loving us is incredible!!!

Love and joy and hoots, Tricia

Update: Amanda Terry Bailey '01

Amanda... my apologies for taking so long to post this!

- T.
---------

After graduation I took a nursing position at Riverside Hospital where I am still working. I met my husband Ryan on a cardiac floor that we both worked on (he is a nurse also). We got married in May of 2006 and we had our first baby on June 16, 2007. Her name is Mckenna Ryan. She has red hair from my husbands Irish side. Being a mom has been such a wonderful life changing experience. I never thought I would get excited at crazy things such as her learning how to wave bye bye or put her own pacifier in her mouth! :) On top of the wedding, moving, changing jobs and having Mckenna I decided I wanted to go back to Otterbein to get my Masters in Nursing. I often wonder daily what I was thinking. So.... I am currently at Otterbein and will graduate in June this year!! I can then sit for boards to get licensed for Nurse Practitioner. Well, that is my life in a nutshell. I just want to thank all of those who keep up with the Blog site and the newsletters because I just love hearing what everyone is up to. Hope all is well with you and your family.

In the hardest times, beauty is always found.

On Sunday we had the honor of planting and Flowering Dogwood tree now and forever known as "Duncan's Tree" and a stone at the base that has one of Scott and Tricia's favorite Bible verses. It was a bit of a surprise for the Arthurs, but tears of sadness and happiness flowed from us ALL! It was a beautiful moment and I was so happy to be a small part of it!

Thank you so much to Tina Mohn and Kat Wittman Wheeler for thinking of this wonderful event and thank you to Carli Amlin Dean, Sherri Slagle Ebert, Jessica Beyer Fry and Tiffany Compan McCallen for coordinating donations, for doing the readings and for the love that went into planning this. Also, thank you to Tricia's dear girlfriends KK Roggencamp and Becky Smith for helping us, Becky, thank you so much for getting the 1847 Room at Otterbein, it was perfect! Kat and Tina even arranged live music, they had a very talented guitarist sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful Word". It was so moving and beautiful, everything that sweet Duncan and the Arthur family deserves. For those of us who know them and have come to know them, they truly are amazing people. The love and strength they have and thier unwavering faith is an inspiration to us all. Tricia said at the end of the ceremony that she didn't know how to thank us all, but Tricia, just know that your family's life has enriched us all in so many ways that we all feel that you have done more for us.

God Bless All of you my sweets friends and sisters.

Thank you for contributing, for helping and thank you ahead of time, because we are going to the HeartWalk on August 25th for Duncan, we are going to be Duncan's Walking Warriors and anyone and everyone is invited. Winter "Love & Hoots" newsletter distributed

Dear Owl Sisters,

The latest edition of "Love & Hoots," our alumni newsletter, was distributed last week via e-mail and snail mail.

For those of you whose e-mail addresses we have on file, we did not mail you a copy (that postage adds up!). If we don't have your e-mail address, consider sending it to me so that we can add you to our e-distribution list.

If you didn't receive a copy of the newsletter, I would be glad to you e-mail you one. Contact me at TiffanyMcCallen@hotmail.com. You can also send me any updates, photos or other information for upcoming newsletters at that address.

Cheers,

Tiffany (Compan) McCallen '00

Owl Update—Darsi Miller Edwards '99

This abbreviated message came from Darsi a few weeks ago. Thought I would share it.

----

I started my own company and am very busy getting it up and running. I am designing a line of baby accessories and eventually apparel for the little ones. I invented a product that is going to be sold in High end baby boutiques beginning next month. It has been a long time coming and it has taken a lot out of me. The name of my company is Lyvea Designs, INC. My website should be up and running in about a month. I am very excited to finally see my products in stores. Yeah!!

Marc is taking his last class to be able to sell all types of insurances. He is getting involved with a company here in Jacksonville and is still waiting for one of his companies to go public. He is officially retired from the NFL and we all are thankful for that.

Taya is in 3rd grade and she loves it. She is very excited to learn. Taya is a very good athlete and has enjoyed traveling all over Florida every weekend with her dad. She plays soccer and LOVES it. She says she wants to be the next Mia Hamm. I say, go for it!! Ella is in the first grade and plays soccer too. She loves it, but you never know which ella will show up for game day. Ella tries to get away with everything she can. She gets it from Marc!!

We just found out that Livi will be joining her sisters next year at Jacksonville Country Day School! Marc and I had been worried if she would get in due to the fact that this time last year she was borderline Autistic. She had been in speach and occupational therapy for 9 months. She just started talking about 6months ago and has not stopped since. We love it though!! With alot of testing, they were able to determine she was ready for Junior Kindergarten. Now they will all be at the same school!

As of right now, we do not have any plans to come back to Ohio. I will keep everyone posted if we do. I wish I lived closer to everyone. Miss you all and take care.
